Autumn color on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon is a great reason to visit Arizona in late September. Photographers are always looking for new ways to capture brilliant yellow foliage on forests of quaking aspen found on high Southwest deserts. Panoramic Grand Canyon vistas can be photographed from new angles under a variety of lighting conditions. On the North Rim, you can find dramatic overlooks above spectacular displays of geology that are visited by very few people. On any given day, you may be the only person to visit that spot with a camera. The North Rim of the Grand Canyon is a thousand feet higher than the South Rim. Aspens grow above 7,500 feet and thrive on the North Rim.
