039 - Capitol Reef National Park (Print)

This is one of my favorite National Parks in Utah. There are hundreds of miles of remote, unpaved roads in the northern Cathedral Valley and along the Waterpocket Folds, south to Lake Powell. There are soaring red rock pinnacles and narrow slot canyons, plus the best panoramic overlook in the Southwest, called the Strike Valley Overlook. Here are details on what to photograph and how to get there: fording the Fremont River to explore the Cathedral Valley, climbing to the Hickman Bridge, shooting the Temple of the Sun and Moon at sunrise and sunset.
