012 - Zion and Bryce National Park (Print)
Zion Canyon is one of my favorite destinations for nature photography in the Southwest. The colors and the contrasts draw me back to photograph Zion's different seasons. The fresh greens of spring stand out against red canyon walls. Other seasons offer the contrasts of warm autumn colors against blue skies and desert landscapes beneath blankets of winter snow. I enjoy photographing everything from panoramic landscapes to the details of tiny spring wildflowers. I am especially fascinated by the lighting effects discovered in Zion's steep-walled canyons. This newsletter points out the best spots to explore during each of the four seasons in Zion. Discover the best trails to the high overlooks and the hidden side canyons away from the summer crowds. Hike up the Virgin River Narrows to photograph one of the deepest slot canyons in the world then explore the Kolob Canyons on the west side of Zion. This newsletter includes details on the best overlooks at Bryce Canyon.
