003 - Winter in Wyoming (Print)
The Tetons are one of the most photogenic mountain ranges in North America. The dramatic views of sharp, serrated peaks rising more than a mile above the valley floor of Jackson Hole, attract photographers in all seasons. Winter is my favorite season. There is almost nothing quite so beautiful as a deep blanket of freshly-fallen snow across those rugged landscapes. In the Tetons and in Yellowstone National Park, you will find images that will take your breath away. Especially when you are struggling through deep snow to arrive at the edge of Old Faithful Geyser just before the morning light of the rising sun is lighting up another of the spectacular eruptions.
If you have ever wanted to find some new and unusual images, consider a mid-winter photo trip to this part of Wyoming. This newsletter will help you plan your photo exploration of Jackson, Wyoming, the Tetons, and Yellowstone National Park. Much of the issue is devoted to preparing you and your equipment for temperatures that can drop to 45 degrees below zero. Here is the help you will need for a January photo trip: choosing the right lenses, batteries, boots, and clothing. Included is the secret to solving your exposure problems when photographing snow-covered landscapes.
